I'm sitting here with a Weatherby Vanguard varmit rifle in 22-250 caliber less than an arm's reach away. I have never seen a coyote less afraid of people then this one is. Hopefully I can get him before I head south.

What do you do with them? I trapped a few last winter and had them tanned. I kept the biggest (it was my first ever

) and I am working on getting a good specimen to the local nature center- along with a fox and skunk if I can. The kiddos pass them around so much in various wildlife classes they don't tend to last long- the tails especially.
Weatherby... nice gun. Gramps swears by his

Morning all!

I figure it was a coyote that killed my hen turkey, although I've never seen one around here. Turkeys are kinda big for coons, don't ya think?

I'm enjoying my cuppa coffee, watching the deer play again! The house next door is vacant (for now) and the deer are out here every day, enjoying the freedom. There is an old apple orchard so they have plenty to eat. I hope whoever may move in likes the critters around here!

Good morning,
I am so mad, I went food shopping yesterday and forgot my vanilla coffee creamer. Well, I guess I will have to drink my coffee the old fashioned way.

Hope everyone enjoys their day, it is nice and sunny here today, we are finally having nice weather now that summer is almost over.

Birthday party for DS who turns 12 today, so glad the weather is nice, I would hate to have been cooped up in the house.

give 'em the business, Opa!

ok its official this was the first day that it wasnt just chilly it was kinda cold! i think i'm happy about it - but when its 12* and i'm crabbing remind me that it was ME that wished summer away! aaghghhhhhghghgh

but dang this is a good cuppa coffee....

Morning guys.

Opa, we've had 4 coyotes, and two foxes hit in the road this past couple of weeks. All right around my house. Our neighbor was cutting our grass in the back, and woke up a sleeping coyote in our woods a couple of days ago. Thankfully, none have found my hen house yet! They are everywhere!!

The rifle I hoping to use is designed for long distance shooting, it has a bull barrel and a 6-18 power scope. As close as I was to that coyote last night I could have shot it with my 44 mag pistol. I'm ready, now if he will just show his furry face.
I've got a big decision to make right now. Do I want to put the apple butter I made two weeks ago or the peach jam I made last week on my toast. With any luck that will be hardest decision I have to make today.
