Grab a cup, pull up a chair, and enjoy the morning.

It's a beautifully brisk morning here in the Michigan thumb

When I got up at 5:30am, there was quite a bit of fog here. But around 6 when the sun peeked through, the fog disappeared. Now it's just a beautiful, peaceful morning. It is a little chilly out there, though...feels like late fall almost.

I'm just enjoying my coffee and my quiet mommy time before the DH and son wake up. Today is a glorious day for me...my son turned 4 years old at 6am. So I'm reminiscing this morning about this past AMAZING 4 years of my son's life. It goes so fast.

Winter is about to hit here. Everything is fed and watered. I'm here working on my second cup. In an hour or so when it warms up, I'll be off to check some snares and train some dogs. For now I'm feeding two of my addictions: BYC and coffee.

Like all good farmers, my wife does the milking...

We've just bought a whole herd of those new "dairy-chickens"
Myers Hatchery developed this year...Maybe you've heard of
them?...Holstein Chickens.

And who can forget the time my wife ran out of cow-food and
decided to feed them some of the hens layer-food. Yep, you
guessed it...couple of hours later, out came the biggest eggs
you ever saw. My poor wife had trouble rolling them things to
the house. I broke into a sweat, thinking I was going to have to
help the poor woman. Good thing my sister in law showed up
when she did. But it wasn't too bad untill one of the cows went all
broody on us. She tore the chicken coop all to pieces gettting
to a nesting box.

Looking back, I probably should have taken the poor cows eggs.
But I let then hatch. Bad mistake.

We've got baby cows roosting in the trees. Breaking a lot of limbs
out of my trees. But that does make it a bit easier on my wife
gathering the firewood.

And you think your neighbors complain about the rooster crowing
in the morning... Have you ever heard a bull crow? Now thats a
noise to wake you right up.

But the coffee...all you gotta do is feed the bull some fresh coffee
beans every day. But the bull, he's only got one spout. I had to buy
another bull, just so my wife could get her decafinated coffee.

Farmer Spook...

Hi guys I just dropped in for coffee.

Sorry haven't been about of late. Lots going on here and my Sister in laws partner died last week so that was hard funeral was tuesday.. He was quite young brain tumor - expected but still a shock it seemed to happen so quick in the end. Thats just my latest news from here other than it is freezing. Went to bed this afternoon as I thought it would be the only warm place. I had my think fluffy PJs on a thick jumper two pairs of socks and the electric blanket on and still I was shivering - had to go get a coffee to warm me up! lol

Oes - hope everyone is fine ?

Sourland, I just noticed that your customized description reads broody magician. You wouldn't happen to have any tricks for breaking a suspected beginning of broodiness? I would like to get a little more than 19 eggs out of Veera before she starts hatching baby golf balls. She's been staying on her egg after laying it. I removed the motivational golf balls from the nests yesterday, today she was going in and out of the nests for hours before finally settling into one to lay. After half an hour I shooed her off the nest, and she left behind a freshly laid egg.
