Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE - Page 2

I thought I would go ahead and post one of the biggest questions beginners have - color percentages

f you use LL as being pure lavender, ll is black and Ll  is split it makes it easier to figure out.  You have to think in terms of fractions and multiplication

lavxlav               lavxsplit                splitxsplit

     LL                    LL                        Ll

   x LL                 x Ll                       xLl

  ____               _____                  ____

      LL                    Ll                        ll

    LL                    Ll                        Ll

  LL                    LL                       Ll

LL                    LL                       LL

100%              50% split             25% black

lavender          50% lavnder         25% lavender

                                                50% split

    ll

           xLL

 __________

             Ll

           Ll

         Ll

      Ll

100 % lavender splits

This is an old pic she is at POL now.  See the breaks in her feather? Can I breed that out or should I just not use her and her sister? Her brother does not have that problem.  Can you see the feathers enough?  looks like someone got after them with scissors.  I have read on ABC forum.... all genetics talk that I found.  I didn't find an answer and most of what I read said it was a MALE thing so that was no help either, it is closely related to the Lav gene, but never an answer as to what really to do about it.  I have blacks, splits and Lavenders unrelated to her.... What should I do?

In the above chart the split x split seems to produce 125% hatch from eggs ?  I think the LL would only be 25%

Does this help?  I am a visual learner and charts help me.

Lavender x Lavender
  L L
L LL LL
L LL LL
Lavender x Lavender Split
  L l Split
L LL Ll
L LL Ll
Lavender Split x Lavender Split
  L l
L LL Ll
l Ll ll (Black)
Lavender x Black
  l l Black
L Ll Ll
L Ll Ll

I personally would not breed splits to splits.  You can NOT tell the solid blacks apart from the splits.

I am going to have a pen for just blacks, a pen to make splits (lavender roo x black pullets) and a pen with splits and lavenders pullets covered by a lavender roo.  It is just going to keep my confusion down.  I have 3 Lavender Roos and may soon cull that down to 2, but maybe not.  I am using my extra roo to make EE right now.

If that is not correct someone let me know.... or if I missed something.
