This little one day old chick is a Salmon Faverolles X Gold Laced Wyandotte Roo. I can tell as it has a fluffy beard and 5 toes. Any idea on sex? I'm new to this so don't understand sex linked colours etc. Will post more as it gets bigger

I think you did get a little sex link pullet! From Tim's chart, a glw male over a salmon Faverolles hen should give gold pullets. Have you seen his beautiful thread?

Thanks for the reply :) would be awesome if its a hen. That thread is really helpful thanks. I played with a chook colour calculator and it said GLW Roo X Salmon Fav hen = black based?

Do you think this chick will be red/gold?

Here it is today at 5 days old.

Silkie x EE.. Cannot wait to see how this little thing turns out.

Mom and Dad in the bg. :)

That was our only -inhouse- hatch. 8 other chicks we have are a RIR roo and various mixed breeds.
I know I saw Red Star, Buff Orp, and Barred Rock. There was also a Black Silkie roo on the premises, but I don't think he got any of the big girls.

But we did get two chickens from them that were supposed to be Silkies, but I think the RIR roo may have had some say in their makeup.

I love raising cross breeds. It is so fun watching the mystery of what they'll look like unfold.
This is Fabio. 23 week old Silver Laced Wyandotte crossed with a Buff Orpington. He is desperately trying to impress the ladies with his long blond "hair".

This lovely girl is a cross between a Silver Laced Wyandotte and a Buff. She is a little princess. At only 23 weeks I can already count on her for 5 eggs a week :)

Mrsjensmith2007--if you cross him with a RIR hen u will get rhodabar hens. Look them up. I think they are beautiful and have started a cross between GLW roo and BR hen with goal of breeding them. First cross will give me black sex linked pulleys also.

That little one up there turned into this little cutie. :)

She's getting more bronze in her chest and is very sweet.

If you want to take any guesses, feel free on the next ones! All bought mixed.

Michonne. She's large with slate legs, muff and the shiniest, softest feathers.

Tina, red with black and feathered legs.

Left is my EE/silkie Chowder, Right is Panini. She's getting a couple random grey feathers on her wings.

Ra, my second oldest. She's HUGE and a jerk. Horrible layer also. xD

Truffles, she's extremely flighty and makes a sound like a goose.
