American serama thread!

You mean like a bed sheet? I’d say if you secure it, it should work. How about a cheap clear shower curtain from the dollar store?
The plastic lattice will have to be small holes, with them being so little lol
I was thinking a a bed sheet or maybe the netting that is used on top of runs. It’s hard to see but the bottom is hardware cloth, so I need something to prevent them from flying through. I’d like to keep it so the ventilation and light can still get through. I haven’t really decided how I want to permanently divide the coop for the 2 flocks yet. I might have my husband put up a divider wall at the other end.

Here are the 2 seramas that hatched (out of 3 eggs). I think the last egg is dead, but since the orps are now hatching, the incubator will be on for a few more days.

One chick is a day older, but since they're the same color, I can't be sure which one.

If it’s just an internal separator wall, that netting or even just chicken wire should be fine. I have netting on the top half, and wire on the lower half. The netting seems to be softer when they fly into it. Lol

Finally got some Seramas after years of wanting them -- two black pullets, sisters, who I named Holly and Ivy.

A couple months after getting them, they both went broody, so obviously I ordered them some hatching eggs...

Out of a dozen shipped, six hatched, one on day 18, the other 5 on day 19. Moms are happily co-brooding the chicks just like they did the eggs. The babies are from blue and chocolate lines, and are the most darling little marshmallows ever.

Beauties!! Welcome to the madness. :)

Hatch is over. These chicks are so tiny. 2 days old, they’ve gained a few grams already! Eating, drinking, and pooping well.
Total of 11 seramas, 9 from my smooth pen, 2 from the silkied pen. Several from the silkied pen were DIS. I think the creeper gene got some. Fully formed and yolks absorbed, just never pipped. A few bantam cochins are in with the seramas. I also hatched some cream legbars and olive eggers.

Big Blue (the orpington "sister") & the silkie mama did not get their pics taken today.
The silkie went broody almost 2 weeks ago, but these babies didn't get the memo yet. The silkie has been sitting tight on her eggs for over a week and these 3 are stuffed in the nest box with her.
