I thought I’d share the story of my tiny tiny Nigerian dwarf cross Doeling that was born in 2021. Sadly she did die of unknown reasons.

Rebecca’s story starts out on February 8, 2021. It was a every cold morning. I had went out to check the goats. One of our tan/cream colored Nigerian Dwarfs had had a baby! But I noticed a water bag with something very tiny and black behind the doe. I jumped the fence and popped the water bag. The poor little baby was so tiny, her eyes had turned blue, and I couldn’t get her to breathe. Feeling defeated I put the tiny baby in front of her mom. Her mom started to lick her and a miracle happened! The tiny baby started to flail, I picked her up and ran to the house as fast as I could. I got her warm, gave her colostrum from a syringe, and made her a little jacket. She was a triplet, sadly her brother born after her was a steal born.

Because February 2021 was so cold 🥶 around -10 all day and dropping into the -teens to -twenty’s we had to keep our baby goats in the house. Rebecca was to small to be kept with the other babies so I gave her a chicken friend to snuggle with.

Because we had so many babies we had to make a pen in our basement to keep the babies in. Here video of me feeding them.
When we took all those babies out to eat off their moms, Rebecca got to go play with her brother and our bottle baby. Her chicken friend also got to go bc she’d cry for Rebecca.
My little cousin loved how tiny little Rebecca was.

Finally for what filled like forever the weather finally wormed up and little Rebecca was able to move outside!

As Rebecca grew so did her belly, she wasn’t pregnant, don’t worry. Her belly would get big like it was full of gas, I’d give her backing soda it would help a little, but then we noticed that Wendy looked like she had be shaved in some spots. I caught Rebecca eating her hair! Sadly in a could of weeks Rebecca had passed away. 😞😭 She had a good life, she lived to be 4 month old and grew to the size of a newborn baby. She was happy and loved to be petted. I still look back at the memeries of my sweet Rebecca.

I’ve been through difficulties that are similar. I feel that Rebecca was lucky to have some one so caring and even though it was a short run…. Y’all made it a happy one :hugs

His mama was a boer goat and father was a Nubian. So he’s got a lot of Nubian features , especially the personality but size wise I think comes from the boer in him.
Couple years ago I had a vet come for one of the other goats and even she said wow he’s huge. She said he’s not overweight or anything he’s just a big (and healthy) guy. So I’m glad he’s a sweetheart. Even though certain times a year he gets a slight case of the stupids but it’s never bad He’s a wether

And this is the newest addition. This is Carl. He came with that name and I love it. A coworker got 2 goats on his small property and unfortunately his Carl’s brother passed away and then my coworkers wife got pregnant. And he decided that getting Carl more friends wasn’t gonna work and a lonely goat is a sad goat . But he knew where to go for Carl to have a good home with friends. It took him a little bit to warm up and transition but now he’s just one of the crew.
He has a very chill and relax personality. Whereas my other ones can be drama queens ( or kings) at times
It is kind of funny just seeing him being part of the crew when he’s about 40 to 50 pounds in all his buddies are anywhere between 150 to 175 pounds. Luckily my goats don’t judge And when you’re small it’s good to have large friends :D
