I don't know what else to tell ya to do because I have only been at this for about 8 or 9 years and have never had this kind of problem before. I thought deerman would chime back in he seems to know how to cure everything.

Call Brad Legg he has raised Peafowl for 30 plus years he may be able to help 816-781-4498 or 816-868-8221.

You could also try Craig Hopkins he also raised Peafowl for about 30 years at 765-886-5560

I have better luck with the injectable Tylan then the powder. Also look very very close inside the mouth. My peahen had a very very very thin thread wrapped around the base of her tongue. If the flashlight hadn't caught it's shine, I would never had seen it. When I pulled it off, out came a huge 2X4 piece of netting that was down her throat all that time. How she swallowed that or where she even got it I will never know......

Also if you have a State department of Ag near you, ask if they can do a throat swab on it. Often they do things much more affordable than the vets. Here a vet necropsy on a chicken is $65 +, where at the Fl dept of Ag it is $30 for up to 3 birds.

I'm with you I don't like anything powder or pour on ether.

This what I keep on hand, the Baytrl does have a short shelf life like a month or two so only get it when needed

Injectable Tylan 200

Injectable Ivomec Plus

Injectable Baytrl

If she has nothing down her throat and you treated her with the Safe Guard, Ivomec, Tylan and Baytrl she may just be one of those sickly birds that will just be that way for the rest of her life. But like I said Call Brad or Craig maybe even both to see what they have to say.

She may have something stuck in her trachea (windpipe) not her esophagus hense thats why she can eat no problems. Just a thought. It would be good if you could get a vet to have a look at her, you have done everything in your power to treat for worms so it must be something else, good luck!!

Yes she is fine, but still does the gasp. I cannot get any vet to give me some baytril. How does someone get it if the vets don't help? None of them do Peafowl

If the bird was "she may just be one of those sickly birds that will just be that way for the rest of her life" wouldn't the others get the same sickness? I did witness the larger bird landing ontop of her and crushing her to the floor, could it have happened other times that I did not see and this is a result of that? I have no way of knowing. But she is fine and healthy, just gasps alot. She eats everything that I put in front of her and drinks fine. Her throat is clear and from what I can see so is her trachea seems fine too but I can only see so far down between breaths. I will call them tomorrow and see what they think.

What about a zoo or a university near you? The zoo here has a zoo vet; and peacocks, if I had a problem I couldn't solve I'd call & ask their opinion. Also we have LSU university 2 hours away - they have a teaching vet school there, I take my dogs there, & they have an exotic animal department & will treat peacocks. They are also cheaper than a regular specialist vet.
