Update on my duckies and the heater. It got in the single digits this week and when I checked on the ducks they looked miserably cold and were not sitting under the heater. I originally installed the heater about 18" high on the wall (angled downward) as suggested but I don't think it was close enough. I ended up moving the heater down to where they can touch it and now they actually line up in front of it at night and I didn't notice major shivering so I think they can feel the heat now.
