That's what i thought, but i was quickly corrected and told that it applies only to the feathers, not the entire bird. So as long as the feathers are a solid blue, with no other colors showing(lacing or anything), they are considered Self-Blue.

I have a couple pastel-ish hens that i thoguth were Blue Fawn, they show a light tan color in good light, but i was told they were Self-Blue by other BYC'ers.
