Probably because they have never experienced the procedure themselves, so they have no idea what it really feels like. As an EMT, I try to be honest and tell a patient if something is going to hurt, and explain every single thing we're doing. I think it's better to be prepared for it rather than be surprised.

Thank you!!! As one who has had many bad experiences with not being told the truth, I am grateful for those who make it their policy to be that way.

WOW! I hope she had a wonderful day and was totally able to enjoy it.

I thought I had chicken pox as a child, but when my first husband and I decided we wanted a baby, I stopped taking my bc pills. My nephew got chicken pox and gave them to me! I was 26 years old! Thank goodness I hadn't gotten pregnant yet. My son will be 26 next Tuesday!
Time to return the favor as his birthday present??

I remember many years ago when my son was young, he sat on Santa's lap and the next day had Chicken Pox. I hope Santa didn't get it and miss Xmas deliveries that year.

Howdy, Team!! Colds and chicken pox and shingles.....I think I'll come back another day, thanks!! So, anyone know if folks with compromised immune systems should (or can) get the shingles vaccine?

I have no idea. I just got through chemo, and was told not to get that, or any flu shots during that time.
