Silkie thread!

From what I can gather, sulfamethazine has more of a ' bolous ' effect on preventing coccidia whereas the sulfadimethoxine is for treatment of outbreaks.
In the interim a little buttermilk will help with intestinal lining shedding ( causing the blood in droppings )
The polyvisol will do the trick , be sure it is without iron. It is good to keep it on hand and it is also more readily available but not always as palatable to the chicks as nutridrench or other poultry multi vitamins.
The chicks will have built up some immunity and not all will show symptoms but it is best to treat everyone. Better to be safe than sorry.

Sulfadimethoxine is not Sulmet, or Sulfamethazine. The spelling is so close. Be careful.

I've been calling everywhere trying to find it. No one has it anymore, and everyone says they've had it on back order for ages. I found a post online that suggests that it is being restricted. Most online sources say backordered, out of stock, or only available from a vet. My vet isn't in until next week so I'm not really sure what to do. I'm still hoping I can find a place that actually has some in stock.

It appears that other people in central PA have been having this same problem.

Thank you so much for your help.

This is one of my 14 week old silkies. I have only two and one is a male (with the wrong comb) but I'm not sure on this one.

They were for my mom so hopefully I have one female! I just have zero idea of how to sex silkies!
