There may be some place near you, but I got mine from Farm King.  My other chickens came from mypetchickens.com.  they are always in touch with you, courteous and have sent great chicks.   They even sexed to males for me for a $1.00 charge each.

Thanks for the info, but I'm trying my best to stay away from hatcheries. They may send you good healthy birds, but I'm looking to start with something above grade quality.

I read somewhere that to sex SLW, that I need to wait till their saddle/hackle feathers come in. What exactly am I looking for to determine if it's a cockerel?

That would be after they molt their juvenile feathers. You'll know before then. By the age of six weeks, the cockerels will have pink combs. The pullets will have yellow combs.

I"m thinking my SLW is developing a pink comb We really aren't up for a rooster. But time will tell......
