What treat did your chickies get today?

sunflower seeds, acorn squash, sprouted alfalfa and a little bit of left over baked potato. They were all over it!

I gave them hot oatmeal with flax seed yesterday, they took a few bites and ignored it. all day. Today they finally came around and ate it!

Had some chicken veggie soup that we had out of the freezer...had just a little left so I warmed it up and let them have a warm lunch.

A big bowl of oatmeal with cut up grapes and a pinch of taco cheese all mixed together...they went crazy!!
It's cold here I think anything warm will do

Kale in a suet cage so they have to work at it. They love it as well as bok choy. I only give every other day.

Bth, their butts are feathering in. Must have been a molting thing.

Today we got stale crackers, some leftover chips, pretzels, a heel from a loaf of bread, and dry cereal. The silkies got leftover biscuits.

I want to grow sunflowers for the seeds (I love sunflower seeds) and if I can feed them to the girls, all the better

I have read many posts on BYC about NOT giving them regular in-shell sunflower seeds due to possible crop impaction. I have read many people give them in-shell seeds without any problems. A lot of people say their chickens love boss, but mine didn't touch it unless I mixed it in their treats...Everyone's an expert... lol

The way they've been going, this is a treat in and of itself.

Also, they had some left over veggie minestrone with some left over rice.

Just wondering what your girls (and guys) got for their treat today?

My 3 girls got left over cooked oats w/ maple syrup, mixed in with 1/2 and avocado, and 2 boiled eggs mashed in with the shell. There was some serious grab-n-gulp going on!
