That's right! Chickens can dream! All animals and humans go through a Rapid Eye Movement stage during sleep. This is when dreams happen. So next time you see your chick or chicken twitching in their sleep, they may well be dreaming of playing with their chicken friends........ or maybe just food.
FACT TWO
There Are Over 28 Billion Chickens In The World
Recent studies show that a massive twenty-eight + billion chickens are living on the planet today. Looks like it won't be long before they rule the world.
FACT THREE
Chickens Can Live Without A Head
Disturbing, but true. In unusal cases, a chicken without a head will run around for a short while without dying. Mike the Wyandotte is famously known for living and incredible 18 months without a head!

It's Illegal To Eat Chicken With Knife and Fork In Gailsville, Georgia
A woman was nearly arrested once for trying to eat chicken with a fork! In Gailsville, Georgia it is illegal to eat chicken with anything but your fingers!

Chickens Can't Taste Sweetness or Saltiness
Chickens have a maximum of 450 taste buds, so they can't dectect salty or sweet tastes.

Chickens Are 75% Water
Yep, they are 75% water! This is 15% more than humans! It's almost suprising that they don't drown in themselves......

The Oldest Chicken Ever Recorded Was 22
Muffy the hen was a Red Quill Muffed American Game bird who died in 2011 and got into the Guiness World Records for Oldest Chicken.

Chickens Will Lose Feathers When Stressed
This is part of the reason why battery hens are often missing lots of feathers. Poor things.

Broody Hens Turn Their Eggs 50 Times A Day
A healthy and happy hen will do this! It must be tiring and hard-work, but there is definitely a good outcome!

Each Chicken Sound Has A Meaning
It may sound like random clucking and squabbling to us, but every sound a chicken makes has a meaning. It's their way of communication. Try clucking to them sometime and see how they react. Just make sure nobody is watching you.....
