I keep coming back to this because of incubation problems and then developmental problems. Thanks for putting this out here and making it so accessible for the community!

This article did quite a bit for me:
  1. It let me know that I'm not at all alone in having a cross beak chick. Whew!
  2. It told me that these chicks can survive. That gave me some momentary hope, but it's fleeting, because unless my 7 year-old will take responsibility for her feeding, I'm not going to be able to keep it up. But at least I know what I'm dealing with.
  3. It gave me some ideas on what and how to feed my chick.
These were very helpful!

I'd consider myself a veteran, even after only 3 years. But there were a few tips in here--like taking them out of the brooder to let them wander even at a young age and come back to your lap--that I hadn't heard. We're going to try this today. Thank you!

I would highly recommend this article to folks who are new to the world of raising chickens. It addresses some pretty persistent social myths in one fell swoop. I especially like the tips that a hen can crow and some roosters care for chicks. Gender roles are not so straightforward in the animal world. Nuance!

Well argued article about why incubation is already an unnatural process and why helping isn’t against nature. Excellent tips! I wish I could have you here to assist!!
