Breed Information, Comments, and Experience with breed:

Mentioned in literature as early as the sixteenth century, Polish Chickens are a very old breed. They were probably imported from Eastern Europe to England, where they became known as Poland Fowls. Continental Europeans often refer to these and to all crested breeds as Paduans or Padoues. Polish Chickens have been praised for years as beautiful birds for exhibition.

In the introduction it is stated that you don't know where the Polish breed came from. They most certainly bare a striking resemblance to an old Dutch breed, called Hollands Kuifhoen (Dutch Crested Chickens), and they have been documented in paintings in the 17th century. However, the assumption is that they have been around for longer then that. It is likely that the breed is related to Russian Pawlowa-chickens (maybe there is your "polish" connection!). I thought I'd share this titbit of information with you all.
