Short on Time? Recycle-a-Prefab Brooder

This is awesome and filled with so many good ideas to try, and if not, you have alternatives there which is great as things often depend on the breed or types of chickens we're all dealing with. I love the Plan B of raising the temp pen with bricks. Ingenious!

Great information.

I'm using this to inspire the brooding arrangements in the coop I'm currently building.
I need to get my chicks out a little bit earlier this year, so the integration part especially was helpful. Great article!
I love this setup! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the great information on integrating chicks into a flock - loved your step by step information. Very helpful!

Nice!
I'm so glad I found this article now!!
From the brooder to chicks to integrating into the flock, the information is extremely helpful. :D
Wonderful re-cycle of your prefab brooder! The photos and diagram helped explain your set up, nice job!
Really good informative article! Love the diagrams to help us visualise your set up. Great ideas for integrating, and great photos to show what you are explaining. Thank you!

I read one of the other articles about integrating early (aarts maybe??) and we have done that with all 3 lots of broody chicks, kept them in for a few days, then into their own little run then open gates after a week or so and we have no problems with our 3 lots of chicks (all 3-4 weeks apart) and the big pullets (7 months).
Thank you for the insight into your brooding in-coop. I really like the modifications you made to allow the chicks in and out of the brooder. I hadn't thought of that, and that will make a really great addition to my brooder box I need to make for the coop.

The addition of a timeline is also a nice reference chart for my first attempt at in-coop brooding!
Awesome set up for integrating!
Great Setup!
