Anyone use em? I bought some cast iron cookware a while ago, mom always used it, so I thought we should have some here.

I read the directions on how to season the pan, I don't wash it in soapy water, but I still can't cook with it......everything sticks!

I use teflon coated pans, and they are fine......but I really wanted to use the cast iron fry pan.

Suggestions?

My DW uses them, but I dont have a clue as to how she does it.

Scrub it with course salt (like seasalt). Rinse in hot water, regrease (hard crisco or lard work best) and put away.

This is what I did to mine and it worked like a charm. I know use my cast iron skillet exclusively when making cornbread and I haven't had any problems since scrubing with the salt.

i love my cast iron skillets!

the best way for a surface to be 'non-stick' is to get the pan really hot then add the butter/margarine/oil. don't heat it up in the pan from the cool state.

hooray for cast iron!

concur...love my cast iron...even have some old Wagners...there really is a difference in the old ones and the new ones...don't ask me why I just don't know...use them to cook pancakes...all that greasing between does the job of getting them seasoned nice...
