PLEASE READ....PLEASE?!

I posted for you. I wish you the very best, as I am fighting the same battle down south of you in Pompano Beach! Lets just hope you get lots of hits, and win this crazy restriction, and maybe, just maybe my city will see this, and change their minds as well.

"I have raised chicken for over 16 years, beginning in the city in Austin, TX and now here in South Carolina.
When properly maintained and cared for, chickens are clean, quiet and enjoyable pets. They produce fresh, healthy, antibiotic free eggs, and the chickens at home are far better off than "battery hens".
Properly cared for chickens do not smell, are nowhere near as noisy as a barking dog and present no health hazards to nearby residents.
With the economy in it's present state, many people are looking for less expensive ways to live- and in raising their own chickens, have found a way that is not only less expensive but far more enjoyable, and healthier as well!
Please reconsider your current ordinances. A limit on the number of hens allowed, a ban on roosters within city limits and guidelines about coop and run construction and placement would be of great benefit to all who wish to live a healthier, less expensive lifestyle!"

Hope it helps, good luck.

Here's what i wrote.

" This is all part of a nation-wide movement. People everywhere have discovered the joys of raising backyard poultry. I agree that there need to be laws to ensure all animals are being cared for in both urban and rural areas, but I cannot agree with laws that prohibit a family from providing for themselves. In my opinion, prohibiting poultry is the same as giving a person a citation for overgrown vegitation when you see they have a garden. "
