My newborn chick has been born with red stuff hanging out its ass and it isn't sitting like the others and its eyes arent open.. i think it might have a protruding rectum or something!!! i'm very sad!! what to do???

It could be the egg yolk yet to be absorbed, although since the chick is already dry I don't know.

Awww, I'm so sorry your first experience has been so rough. But good for you doing the right thing for this chick, to be brave & put it out of its misery.

Nature can be harsh, & the facts of life for chicks is that hens lay more eggs than they need to hatch, and more chicks hatch than are needed to grow to maturity. The difficulty comes when we get our hearts so attatched to each & every developing egg & hatching chick. We fret more than an actual mother hen would.

I hope your other chicks continue to be well, to grow & thrive, and to give you an abundance of delight.
And of course,

Sorry you had to deal with this. I understand. I am a teacher and hatched 15 chicks with my 4th graders and my own two kids. It was hard when I had to take care of the 15th that died with the same thing about 24 hours after she hatched. My daughter had named her Virginia and my heart broke when I picked her up from school and had to tell her Virginia didn't make it. I guess nature has a way of taking care of those who can't make it themselves.
