A few months ago we launched the new BYC Chicken Breeds Database, but we've still got a LOT of work to do and we need your help!
You can read the details of the new system here, but basically there are two types of pages:
Main Chicken Breed Pages - These are detailed chicken breed pages with very detailed pictures and information.
Simple Chicken Breed Pages - These are more personalized pages where any member can post pics and info of their chickens for a specific breed and/or color.
We've put a lot of time and resources into developing this new system, but we really need YOUR HELP to make all that effort worth anything. As incentive, for every approved (by our staff) Main Breed Page that is submitted, you will receive a special FREE 4 Month Golden Feather Membership to use for yourself or give as a gift to a friend.
For your "Main" breed page to be qualified for a FREE 3 Month Golden Feather Membership it needs to:
Be free of copyrighted text or pictures
Have good quality images (best size is 800 x 800 pixels)
Include quality information about the breed. Shoot for at least 100 words or 500 characters of text for the history and the comments. Please spell and grammar check your text before submitting.
You can edit a Main page you created at any time. If you are logged into the forum and browsing a page you created there will be an "Edit" link to the top right of the breed page.
Fortunately two of our wonderful members, allaboutdemchicks and Msbear , have stepped up to really help us (and especially me) to make this project a success! They will be helping to:
1) Insure that the pages are in good shape
2) Tracking what breeds still need to be done
3) Organizing resources and people to get pages created
4) Answering all your questions about this cool project.
In general, if you need any help (a proof reader, help gathering info and pictures, any other questions, etc.) they are glad to assist!
Below is a list of the breeds which we still need created. Even if you don't want to create a page, you can still submit pictures and/or information to either allaboutdemchicks and Msbear.
PLEASE volunteer to create one of these pages by replying with to this thread with the name of the breed you want to reserve!
