I gave my old chicks some sand and they ate it up.
I gave my new chicks a small amount of sand since I didn't want them to overeat it --- and they tried to dustbath in it!! Seeing chicks attempt to dustbath in about a tablespoon of sand was quite hilarious!! I felt bad for them so I gave them a little more and they dove right in. lol
My cat has come a long way since the first batch of chicks. He used to think they were food or toys, but I pushed his paws away gently and my chicks survived. This time around, he totally ignored the chicks. He laid on my lap while I watched the chick TV for a good while tonight. Relaxing!
