Some of you may know that all of my chickens got killed on Christmas eve by my step dads dog. Here's the thread so you know what happened https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=432630&p=1 .

Well my silver sebright was the only one that survived the dog attack and today she was killed by the very same dog that killed her friends on Christmas eve. That was the last chicken I'll ever have because I'm done with chickens. I was so attached to them. RIP all my chickens.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss.

I lost my entire flock once too. It can be devastating.

But i hope you won't write off chickens forever. Later on, when you have a better situation, you may be able to have chickens again and love them for many years.

Oh gosh, I am so sorry that you lost her as well. I would be so heartbroken, as I'm sure you are.

It is unacceptable that this happened again... I hope you have a strict talking-to with your neighbor about their dog.

I wouldn't say goodbye to chickens forever, though--give yourself a while to grieve and then you can make your decision later. It could be that later you can create a secure coop and won't have to worry about losses even with the neighbor's dog, and you may find yourself missing having chickens down the road.

Many sad hugs to you, though. I can understand the crushing sadness you're feeling right now...

It hurts so much to lose one, or a few, and the whole flock is just devastating.

I'm sure you gave them happy lives in the time they had on earth, though...

i am so sorry.
i would not get anymore right now while the dog is still around.it will not stop.i am sorry that your step dad doesn't seem to care.its hard, i know,i have been there.
but one day you will have a better situation and you can have as many chickens ,safely as you like and you will have the last word on how things are done and cared for.

Give yourself time to heal your heart - learn more about chickens, breeds, genetics and all the good stuff and dream of your future chickens.

I am so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful bird. Please accept my condolences. I agree with everyone else. Take time to grieve and then think about it. I lost 12 chickens about 2 months ago to a stray dog attack. It is heart wretching. Once again I am very sorry.
