First time buying eggs off ebay, ( I know Most people wait and say dont candle tell day7 7) well its about 50 hours in the incuabtor. And there Silver laced cochins. Well I candled and did not see anything! Usually around day 2 I see alittle bit forming. Well nothing I crack it open, AND IT WAS NOT EVEN FERTILE! after cracking the 9th open That WAS NOT FERTILE, I stoped before I made myself cry. I have 5 in the incubator, Im pretty sure the one is developing, But as if for the other 4, im not even going to bother! This person has 100% feedback. But I just looked at there feedback again and someone commented " 3 out of 12+ hatched the rest were not fertile, not good" The seller offered a refund or they will ship more eggs. This is my first time buying eggs and im so dissapointed! $32.00 down the drain,of my babysitting and allowene money ! atleast 1 better hatch

ouch... ebay strikes again...

i know you save money on ebay, but i'd rather save up an extra couple of bucks and find someone on the forums to get eggs from... sorry you're having such a hard time...

We are candling our first batch of Ebay eggs next Tuesday. I fear the same will be true for ours as well. The seller had a real good rating but her attitude and lack of response to an issue make me worry.

How sad and disappointing! Perhaps you can find some kind BYCer in your area who will share some eggs with you at a better price. Try the "Where am I? Where are you?" thread. If you don't see a thread already started for people in your area, start one! I think a lot of people meet and become real friends on BYC. I have at least two significant people in my life whom I met right here on BYC, one of whom has many fertile birdies in her yard & I have a dozen of her eggs cookin' in my bator right now!

Hopefully you'll be able to find local hatching eggs AND make some new friends. Double bonus.

ill talk to my mom, To email the seller to see if I can get a refund, Other wise I dont have the money to buy more eggs.

I got 6 Lavender bantam Cochin eggs from a CA seller on ebay. Not a single one had a bullseye when I opened them. She offered to send more eggs for the cost of shipping, BUT her shipping cherges are almost twice the actual shipping costs. I decided to not add to the insult.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but many of us who sell on BYC also sell on ebay- it isn't as if one venue has all of the unethical sellers.

It's just best to look at the feedback, and if they have unresolved issues, don't buy from them. That being said, fertilized eggs sometimes don't look like they were after they have cooked for a bit. I know I had a very reputable seller provide me eggs I felt were infertile, and later she discovered she had developed fertility problems...but I didn't get any new eggs from her, nor was she interested in resolving the issue with me. I feel slighted still, because I paid a huge amount for a handful of eggs, but it's not something worth getting mad about, because no one can prevent damage from the post office from occurring 100% of the time. Fact is, I'm not interested in dwelling on it, because life is too short!

It's just a risk with shipped eggs, and if you can get replacement eggs, you should do it, and know that it's just the way this all works.

Good luck!

Shipped eggs are always a gamble. You pays your money and you takes your chances. That's just the way it is. Severe jostling in shipping can even disrupt the blastocyst making fertie eggs appear non fertile. It's just the way it is.

I found the white dot on the egg in looked like any other non fertile eggs. And another person left feedback saying they only hathed three also... I guess this person have on average 3 fertile out of 14.
