Advice needed for Pecan Recipes

I like "Pecan Goodies"

1 egg white
½ cup brown sugar
Dash Cream of Tartar
1 lb of Pecans

Beat egg white until frothy. Combine brown sugar and Cream of tartar. Add Pecans mix until pecans are coated. Bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes, then Turn off oven and leave Pecans in oven for about 30 minutes. Stir about every 15 minutes.

Oh, how I wish I had checked here a few days ago. Didn't realize until now that hoosier posted a recipe for candied pecans.

I'd found a recipe for Pecan Pralines and decided to try it. Now, mind you, I enjoy baking, but am not a candy maker.

I don't know what I did, but I can't even get the syrup to thicken to the point that I could begin to think about dropping it onto wax paper. Any advice any of you may have for a first timer would be greatly appreciated!

I'm going to edit the title here to reflect my need for advice, or maybe a better recipe.
