Why do you think they are dying? Maybe you had better wait until you have this under control before you get any more birds.

Yup most people do like Ideal and there service is good, as well as their birds. You are correct about MG too. I'd be very surprised to find a proven death by MG, especially since MG doesn't kill, the secondary infections do.

I would want to know why my 4 mo old chicks were dropping like flies before I brought more birds home.

And I've gotten chicks and ducks and guineas from Ideal in a single order. Oh, and I got 30 birds from them this summer. Haven't lost a one of them yet.

i also got a shipment from ideal on july 8th here

lost 1 in the box(it got squished)

lost another 1 3 days later because the other 23 chicks pecked at it like crazy and basically killed the poor thing

and as of today all are healthy and eating like pigs and very healthy here

and they are outside too in a pen to themselves(todays heat index was 108)

so whatever is being said about ideal's chickens must've skipped me

i plan on buying from them once again this month no matter whats been said

i personally like their chickens..never got anything free from them but still timely shipping and nice asst too

View My BYC Page Re: Ideal poultryNo, ducks are in a separate order, they hatch on different dates. I have ordered from them many times, both ducklings & chicks. FYI- right now they are dealing with an outbreak of MG (Mycoplasma) so you may want to consider waiting until they get it under control. Quite a few people's Ideal chicks have been dropping like flies. I'd wait.

Both of the statements highlighted above are incorrect. We do ship ducks and chicks on the same day. We also are not dealing with an outbreak of MG. I would suggest reading the other thread listed above and understanding the differences in being MG positive and having an outbreak.

If you have any questions regarding the health of the poultry from IDEAL, please contact us at 800-243-3257 ext 5411 and Mikaela will be glad to answer any questions. If she is unable to answer your question she will direct you to someone that can.

Ideal sells over 5 million chickes a year and yes we do have customers that lose birds, but characterizing it as quite a few, dropping like flies, might need to put in perspective. Believe me, if we had a disease affecting the poultry that leaves our premise or that we maintain on our farm, the TAHC would be all over us.

Hi Teri, I edited my original post. Sorry for any problems or misunderstanding. After talking to Monroe, I now have the full picture.
