Kentucky people

Meri,

Don't know if you still want some more calves but there are several ads on Craigslist Louisville for heifer calves on the Farm and Garden section. They have Angus-Jersey, Holstien-Jersey, and Holstien calves listed. Thought you might want to check them out. Ad say they are between 1-2 weeks old.

You should get a small bush or something and put it in the run, since she is game, she'll probably hide them pretty good. But her mama was always good about laying in the nests, for the most part anyway

Apparently someone has dumped what looks like a buff orpington rooster on us. He is out on the other side of the pond, in the drive for the government ground. He had to be dumped off, the only 'close' neighbor that has chickens has nothing but games, and this is clearly not a game rooster.

So does anyone need a buff orpington rooster??? Free?? PLEASE????

Thanks - I've been checking craigslist, but mostly Lexington and Bowling Green, hubby doesn't check Lusiville, much, not sure why

I'll have him look at Louisville tonight. He's out working on the deck right now. They're laying deckboards (finally

Ok, not sure if I ought to crosspost this, or just put a link on the Chickenstock [page, but I figured I'd unload on all of you, first....

If I had had a gun handy, earlier, TeaCake would have a bullet in his brain.

You all know (if ya read it) that I've had him in Jail for the last few days, because he was agressive to Michelle. Well, he's been fine, acting just beautiful (better than usual, even) so I figured to try putting him back out in the pasture with everyone else today.

He immediately went after Mama and had her actually on the ground three times, almost ran her into the fence twice, then when Blackjack drove him off Mama he went after Michelle and had her falling down on the ground. He acted like he'd lost his mind, he went back after Mama and would not leave her be, kept biting her, attacking her, etc... Butters tried to help Mama and fell down, also, but that was the mud, not Teacake.

So, TeaCake is for sale - he'd do good in a place where he either had a Large horse for a companion, or he was alone. Or if someone gelded him he would maybe settle down some. (he likes large horses, actually and gets along well with them.)

I am not sure how he would do with cows or other livestock, as I have been afraid to let him in with the calves and Camille. I wouldn't let him in with any livestock smaller than he is, like goats or sheep.

By himself he is fine, a (reasonably) sweet natured thing - but with my jennies, he tries to murder them (it is not typical mating behavior. Yeah, I know Jacks can be agressive, this wasn't agressive, this was an all out attack for no reason).

Now I know why I got such a bargain on him

so, if anyone wants an ill mannered little sonofa%^#@& then come and get him. He loads really well to trailer, so no problem for you to load him up and drive off. $200 cash - and he's yours.

he really would do well gelded as a pet for someone, but as an intact stud, he's a monster. btw - he's about 4 years old, if that makes a difference.

Well, I went down to get Cris off the bus, and was going to try and get that rooster to come towards the house. That stupid dog chased it into the woods!

I hate that #$%! dog!! So hopefully I'll be able to find him, or he'll be food for some kind of critter.

Ok, this is odd....

I have this one quail - a white with a black spot on its head - who is always sneaking out of the door when I go into the coop - or if it stays, it will climb onto my foot and peck my toes.

Today I was out back by the deck - very very far from the quail coop, and I look down at the corner of the garage, and there is the quail, standing there watching us work. I picked it up and put it back in it's coop - no idea how it got out, unless it snuck out this morning without me knowing it. Odd that it found where we were working and came over to hang out

Maybe I'll have to keep that one just for a pet
