It's for brooding young chicks or housing an injured bird. Not huge by any means, almost 10sq ft.
Doghouse: $2 cheap from the scrap metal place (a STEAL!!! Awesome shape - it still has some of the sticker on it!!!)
PT 2x4: about $6
Cage Wire: got in a barter with the scrap metal guy last fall when I was building my coop
Fence staples: Whole box was less than $4, not included in total price though.
Rope for draggin: Got on clearance last summer, multiple uses, not included in price.
Lamp for brooding: I put this together for an egg candler earlier this spring, but since I purchased it for a different project I didn't include it in the price of this project. It's awesome when you can get multiple uses for the same purchases!!!!!!
I ran the lamp cord through the vent, see, no holes in the roof so no leaking!!!!
Edit: That's 10sq ft. lol it's designed for one bird or itty bitty chicks. My other chicken tractor is about 19sq ft of run space, plus a bigger doghouse for roosting in, and it raised my first 5 chickens to POL. Now I brood chicks in it too, but I needed a way to separate age groups - hence the new tractor.
