Hang in there Cyn. I know it's so hard, day after unrelenting day, and not having anything actively positive that you can do about their situation and condition. You're already doing everything humanly possible and beyond to assure that they are at least moderately comfortable and they know that they are loved.

Just stock up on those grapes and keep them coming. I know Ivy, Livvie and Lexi are loving those treats in particular. And dang it! With all of the moisture content in them, they just have to be doing those girls a good turn in all of this heat.

Just know that my thoughts and prayers for you and the girls are constantly with you!

How is Isaac's toe by the way?
 
I ran out of grapes (say it ain't so!) and have substituted blueberries from our bushes. Those go over almost as well with all the girls.

Isaac's toe seems okay. It's black at the very end, both the inner nail which has hardened up and around it, but no swelling and he isn't limping anymore. He may slough off the remaining dead skin and be just fine from now on. He's thrilled to be back with his girls and Tiny, of all the girls, is following him around and plucking at his feathers and she's been cackling a high shrill egg-type cackle so I think her egg is coming soon. Honestly, I think he is too large for her. If I'd had a bantam flock, she would have been put in with them. ''

Lexie went back on the nest a bit ago, for the second time today. I'm hoping she'll lay, but if not, then I guess I have my answer.
 
Cyn, I haven't been on in awhile, but I wanted to send my best thoughts. I hope the day goes well for your girls. A little less suffering, and a good amount of cuddling and blueberries. (They're pretty good stuff, too!)

However....I have happy news for you. DeDe is out with the flock.

She had 4 scuffles, 1 was very very funny.

The little EE/SLW Penelope saw the "new girl" bent over scratching around and snuck up behind her...I guess her intent was to sneak up on DeDe's bare bottom...about the time Penelope got to DeDe, everything suddenly changed. DeDe stood up and turned really quick to face Penelope...Penelope got a case of Dilusions of Grandieur and flared at DeDe...DeDe flared back and went airborne on Penelope.

Penelope could not run fast enough...she luckily outran DeDe and avoided a butt kicking. Penelope keeps trying to sneak up on DeDe and only manages to tick the big girl off.

DeDe's main adversary at present is the Black Australorp, Holly. They have had 3 feet flying encounters but DeDe is holding her own....and I might add that DeDe does not like Severus at all! He approached her and danced...she went Kung Fu on him.

It sounds to me like that DeDe is quite a character! She is gonna be alot of fun to have around.

Cyn, I can not believe that Ivy! That girl is a fighter, that is for sure. I hope all your girls have more better days ahead than poor days. Sweet things.
