The only hot caffine I do is cocoa. Can't stand coffee. Love my diet Dew though!
We got a scant 1/10 of an inch of rain yesterday, that was the first and only in well over a month, those three times of rain everyone else got we didn't get a drop, rain all around us though.
No problem just glad to know our Okie's are doing okay. Seems we all get busy during the summer months & forget our online friends worry about us.
I have to say I don't drink the same amount of coffee during the summer months as I do during the winter. I can't drink anything diet, I just don't like it. I am a sweet tea girl over any soda pop.
Maybe that is why I can't loose this 10lbs that keeps following me around!
We got an inch and a half between yesterday and today. At least, I went and measured how much fell in a pot I had sitting on the sidewalk. I hope that's a fairly accurate estimate.
morning everyone. Anyone been getting into those whisker faces? I cant talk my daughter into going to Ft Gibson dam with me next week on the 7th, apparenntly an 11 year old girl cant stand to sit on the side of the dam for hours on end. Ive been on vacation and been taking her to the illinoise and im surprised she aint sprouted fins yet. Unforunetly the best fishing that river has to offer is carp, carp, gar, and carp! Well besides somenice big panfish. So anyone with juglines out or noodling or anything? I need some good fishing stories!
I wanted to come over to the very cool Okie board and introduce myself. I am new to BYC and new to chickens My husband and I are planning our chicken coop and run as we speak. Hoping to have it ready to go in a few weeks and get some pullets - we are starting with 4 and hoping to stay with 4. We want them for the eggs and for fun, of course. We live in Broken Arrow, on one acre. We have 3 real kids, ages 14,13, and 11.
Any suggestions on breeds to get and where to get them? My hubby wants a chicken with feathered feet. My research has brought up cochrin and bahma breeds. We want good egg layers that are good for human interaction. I like the idea of the Easter Egg birds too I have been perusing craigslist. I also noticed there is a poultry swap in afton. Any advice?
Anyone live close to me? Anyone with a small coop interested in show in tell??? Thanks so much!
Michiele you gotta lot of neighbors on this forum. Welcome to the byc okie thread. You may only want 4 but i bet you end up with several more lol. They are addicting and you will be expanding your flock before you know it. Cochins are great pets, make great mothers. But IMHO are not the best for eggs. For a few good egg layers id get barred rock, rhose island red, black australorp or easter eggs. Kids realy love the easter eggers with there green eggs and unlimited colour variety they seem to pop up.
