I recommend "Beekeeping for Dummies" as a good starter book. I also like to read the posts on the Northeast Oklahoma Beekeeper Association (NEOBA) yahoo site. They discuss beekeeping issues in Oklahoma and I have learned a lot from their website.

Going to call it a day.

We received a little more than 1/2 inch rain today. It was much cooler working in the garden this evening. The hens loved being outside grazing.

Spent the day working up an info sheet (turned into six pages) on soapmaking for the mother of a good friend. If anyone is interested, I saved the document and can email a copy to anyone who PMs me their email addy. It has a listing of supplies/equipment needed, info on locating oils and instructions for making a wood mold for making a log of soap that can then be cut into bars. I also included a few recipes. I have a lot more recipes if someone wants something more advanced....just let me know.

Does anyone recall when Eggcartons.com typically has their "free shipping" promotion? I need to order some nest box liners and don't want to order them this week, if they are going to have a "free shipping" promotion sometime in July

I found an email from 2010 where they had the free shipping as a July 4 promotion. I sent them an email this evening, inquiring when the next free shipping promotion would be.
