***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I think the marans have the feathered feet and they lay very dark eggs, don't know how they are for friendly. But the Marans don't lay as often they need the extra time to put the dark layer of color on (so I hear, no actual experience w/ them)

Then there is always the opposite end of the spectrum, the current craze the NN which not only is bare legged, but bare necked too!!!!! They are certainly .............................. different looking, a conversation starter, and lay well, do well in the hot and cold (so I read) once you get over the shock of them they start growing on you. I used to think they were hideous, now I think they are cute in an ugly sort of way.

Look out Kassaundra, that is how it started with me! Thought they were cute in an ugly sort of way!

Welcome to the board glad to have you! I like everyone else only planned tohave them for a few eggs & bug patroll. Please take our advice even if you only get 4 build for more because at some point you will end up with more unless you have more will power than the rest of us! LOL

I like Cochins, they have feathered feet & they are very broody. Meaning every spring they will try to sit & hatch. YOu might want to do with another breed that won't be so prone to broodieness.

That is a very nice coop! Can you post photo of the inside, too? Beautiful photo, by the way.

I only have one photo of the inside and it's not very good. When I get home this evening I'll take some more. Thank you! I have some more of the outside though if your interested

Sure! I'd love to see any photos you have. The coop looks very similar to one I've been trying to plan and am curious about yours. Can you give the dimensions, too?

And there is NN out there with feathered feet.

If you cross the NN with a FF I think you could get one but a true NN would be clean legged. Someone that knows more about genetic's may correct me.

LOOOVE the little red barn coop!!!!!!!!!

I tried giving them spaghetti last night. Oh my goodness, I thought I was going to have a riot on my hands. I think they thought it was worms. I was breaking the spaghetti into 1" to 2" pieces and tossing it to them. That was the funniest thing I've seen in a while. What a bunch of goof ball girls I have. Thanks for all of the advice City and Poco Pollo. I'm having so much fun with this backyard playground.

That is true if you are breeding to the standard, naked necks are clean legged. BUT I dont think I have seen very many bred to the standard. NN is dominat it appears. Bred to FF you have NN FF, bred to Frizzle, etc. I may be wrong, (which I am alot) I have a weird manageree of NNs all shapes and sizes. But all the same ugly cute looking. And I agree, that barn is awesome. Guy
