    Giving away my Amberlink hen

She keeps pulling feathers of the other hens. I can't seem to cure her. She's been to chicken jail twice now, with no success. If anyone wants her, I live near Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born in March. Lays daily. I'm not sure I posted this in the right area, but it's not a for sale, she's free.

How to re-introduce healed chicken back to flock?

I've been keeping her in her own cage, outside of the run during the day. At night, I put her cage in the run, with the other hens locked up in the coop. I hope after doing this for a couple weeks, after she's healed they'll all get along again.

How to re-introduce healed chicken back to flock?

Dang it. Our hen got her head stuck in the run fence, and another chicken started to eat her alive. She's been healing in a cage in our basement, and it all scabbed over and mostly healed. I sprayed her with blukote, and took her to the run for SUPERVISED visitation with the flock, as she's...

How to stop a hen from plucking other's feathers?

Thanks! We have a coop inside a large dog run. Would it be OK to place her in a crate inside the run? (it's not very cold here yet) I don't have a place to put her in the house, as I have the injured hen inside already.

How to stop a hen from plucking other's feathers?

I have an Amber Link that's been a "punk" since she was a little chick. She's used to just "hog" food and chase the others away. Now, she's started pulling the feathers out of the other hen's butts. She has enough protein, different food/water areas, and branches and toys. I sprayed all the...

A lot of people in my town have chickens too, and I was told it is ok, but I wanted to look it up and print to see for myself. I am confused by the laws, can someone please point me in the right direction? Here are my local codes: http://www.ecode360.com/ecode3-back/getSimpleIndex.jsp?custId=HE0496

Hens are kicking everything out of the run! Suggestions?

The ground isn't perfectly level, either, so I'm afraid if I invest in sand to cover the dirt, it will just wash away....off to look for lip building ideas I suppose.

Hens are kicking everything out of the run! Suggestions?

I've tried straw, hay and wood chips, they kick and scratch it all out of the fence. Is it worth building a "lip" around the bottom of the fence, or just leave the run bare earth?

anyone else stopped eating chicken now that you raise them?

We bought chickens for eggs, and now I cannot eat chicken, since I love my chickies so much. anyone else have this "problem"?

how can I catch the culprit? (get rid of rooster?)

This is probably a dumb question, but this is my first time having chickens, although I read here and read one book. WHY are her feathers missing? Is it from them mating, or do roosters pull at the feathers? THeir beak or feet?

how can I catch the culprit? (get rid of rooster?)

One of our hens is getting her feathers plucked out, on her back, near her tail. SHe's also been "nesting" and laying down (not sick or hurt though) We do have a rooster (who was supposed to be a hen) that is maturing. Is it most likely him? I watch them and don't see any of it happening...
