Are you looking at her in her eyes???? I read somewhere that you should not look them in the eye[predator type thing, also i read that they will try to peck at your eyes if you get to close when your getting eggs from the nest! Just another thought!!

I have ordered from Meyers, the chicks were healthy and looked like the breeds I chose, I am very happy with Mt Healthy also

Maybe instead of poking her in the chest, Just use your finger and just peck the top of her head , like the rooster or alpha hen would do!
