One has a bigger comb and waddle that is much redder than the other 5. But other than that they all look the same to us. (These are chickens my Orpington hatched and yes, they are black australorps) My mom, the OP, is keeping 3 of them and I am taking 4 f them back to stay with my 7. We can't...
I sure hope so. If it turns out she is, we want to get her a few fertile eggs. (My mom wants a few chickens!) What a fun spring this could be! I am hoping she lays an egg so I can stop worrying, too.
I am new to having chickens (got them last year) so this is my first layer "issue".
One of my Orpingtons has been in the nest box since yesterday. It looked like she was trying to lay an egg and she was all puffed up. She was still there and still puffed up this morning (with no eggs, I remove...

Even after a good washing, even after soaking in a little bleach. It will be ok for a day after the good cleaning, but then just stinks. (It never was like that at the beginning) I stopped using it and want to get a new waterer.
What should I get?
I don't even know who layed (laid?) it!
We have 3 buff orpingtons, a rhode island red, an ameraucana, a golden sexlink, a barred rock, and a silver laced wyandotte.
I *THINK* it came from the red, she has been laying the longest and she generally has the biggest eggs and that's the color of...
