They are cool, they can get so big there just isn't enough shell and you get all kinds of patterns in the thin shell. Had one that looked like a sunflower.
My two older turkens laid such eggs regularly. Unfortunately, hens that lay those on a regular basis won't be laying long. I butchered both my girls after their 2nd laying season and the 1 was done, no more eggs forming in her. The other might have layed into the winter. I don't like getting such large eggs from my girls and will be watching their daughters closely.
I also get alot of XL eggs, the first one was 4 inches long, and came from my Amerucana. It had 3 yokes inside! I have several Barred Rocks as well that give me the jumbos everyday, two yokers. I didnt have a scale to weigh it on, now I am curious how much it weighed. Where can I get a chart listing the weight for each size of egg? Thanks.

One of our Silver-laced Wyandottes has laid two eggs like that. Far bigger than the eggs from the Buff Orps or the Australorps and they all are the same age. The thing is,the BO's have been laying almost a month, the Australorps maybe two weeks and the SLW'a just started this week. That seems huge for new pullet eggs, compared to the other breeds pullet eggs.
