I would bet the rooster didn't come to the fair with mites. The birds are so close and they are there for about a month I think so I'm not surprised if some of the get it while they are there. After the judging maybe the owners just don't keep them as clean as they did for the judging?
Hey All,
I went to the Pet Club on Val Vista and Williams Field Rd to get dog food....ONLY DOG FOOD! I knew they would have baby chicks so I avoided them as much as possible. I got the dog food and the employee's must have seen me glance at the chicks and they asked me if I wanted any. I asked...
Thanks everyone for the feedback on my recent chicken deaths. I have since sealed up the treadle feeder and finished my closed auto water system. This was to remove the risk of moldy food and dirty water. We had a bit of rain last night so I went and checked the feeder this morning and...
Well, we are about to lose another hen with the exact same symptoms. I noticed this one it seems like a day sooner than the last. She was very slow to move. Stayed in the same spot for hours. Now she is no longer able to keep her head up or keep her eyes open. I finally discovered what I think...

I just watched a youtube video of a guy giving a chicken a shot in that same location. Any idea how much to give? He did a 1cc shot, but I have no idea what the shot was.
I just gave her some Sav-a-chick probiotic that I got from the feed store. Now I'm reading on the package to use with Sav-a-chick electrolyte and it does not have electrolytes in it like the employee said. :( This stuff says it's just a digestive supplement. At least I got some liquid in her.
I...
Sorry, I left out the water part. It's a mix of water and acv.
So she just tried to stand up and her toes are curled under. I'm searching BYC for this now.
Thanks everyone!
I thought I'd ask here first since I think it's hydration/heat related. I noticed one of my BO hens just laying in the run when I got home around 4pm. I was just out for the past hour working in the garden when I noticed she was still there and as I approached she didn't move like normal and she...
