Pullets or Cockerels - Lavender Orpingtons

I would say pullet. At 14 weeks my two, which are for sure cockerels, have large developed combs as well as wattles and earlobes that are a bright red. They also have very noticeable hackle and saddle feathers.

Pullets or Cockerels - Lavender Orpingtons

I did. They refunded the full price of each chick so essentially we got two roosters for free. I am very satisfied and appreciative of their customer service but still disappointed that we didn't get any Lavender hens.

Pullets or Cockerels - Lavender Orpingtons

As oh right now, 12 weeks old, they are both friendly. If they stay that way they can both stay. The bigger one is definitely the lead rooster. The smaller one is very sweet and not cocky at all. The larger one us sweet but very cocky.

Pullets or Cockerels - Lavender Orpingtons

All the same age :/ I am trying to hold out some hope as we had a Barred Rock that everyone thought was a roo and it turned out to be a hen. It will make me really mad if both of our $20 chicks turn out to be roosters.

Pullets or Cockerels - Lavender Orpingtons

I am going to be beyond angry if they both end up being roosters. The hatchery is going to get a piece if mt mind. We payed for pullets which was $6 more per chick. Here is a picture of the cocky Lavender with both our Leghorns and one of our Buff Orpingtons.

Pullets or Cockerels - Lavender Orpingtons

I have two 6 weeks old Lavender Orpingtons. One has a strange neck tuft that fluffs up, is very cocky, will peck your hand when you reach in the brooder, watches everything, and stares down our dog. He or she is sweet once out of the brooder though. The other is very calm and sweet all the...

    Barred Rock Gender

She is a very manly looking hen ;) And thank you. She still eats and drinks well. She just doesn't move around much. I think if she was a smaller breed it would be easier but she is a fairly heavy chicken to be getting around on one leg.

    Ordered new chicks!!

https://www.meyerhatchery.com You just have to see when the breeds are available. We really wanted Blue Andalusian and a type of Maran but there were none available for the ship date we chose so we went with other breeds instead. I am most excited for the Lavender Orpington, Speckled Sussex...

    Broken leg :/

I have a Barred Rock hen that has been through the ringer. She already knocked on death's door once after another hen pecked her eye. We had to hand feed and water her for a few days and treat her eye. She recovered finally. Shortly after that she started limping. No idea what happened. We...

    Barred Rock Gender

When would he start crowing? If it is a roo he is a terrible one. He doesn't crow and doesn't seem to watch over the flock at all. Our other barred rock which we know is female is the leader of the flock. Is that normal? I was hoping for his sake he was just a hen with a larger crown cause we...

    Barred Rock Gender

Sorry meant Barred Rock in the title. Is this a male or female? I think they are about 4 months old. No crowing at all.
