Here is a thought...feel free to add to it.
How about a Community meet in Southern Ga and Another one in Northern half of georgia...that way (gas prices) we ALL get to enjoy a Meet up?
Think it over, we could plan for the SAME day and have a moderator for the North and another for the South.
I live in South East ga, nearer Valdosta. I also have Buff Orps but it will be several months before i'll be having chicks.
Keep looking, and i know of an auction in Pearson, quite a drive, BUT IF you are in a hurry.....may be worth your drive.
Go to MUNICODE.COM and look up the code for your county or city.
It will list most of the codes under ANIMAL, and you should get answers there.
Hope this helps, also it is a great reference site for what the codes state about fowl/chickens.
I have window screening and chicken wire/hardware cloth on all my coops. Flies still find thier way in when i open the door...but it almost completely cuts down on the mosquito issues .
In the deep south we have a lot of bugs and it keeps most of the other bugs out of of the coops at night too...
Unless i missed it, somewhere i read that rabbit pellets can be fed to chickens safely. The pellets are made from alfalfa, can anyone respond to this?
I think it sounds okay...in moderation of course, but please let me know.
Berrien County just 20 Min North of Valdosta.
Mom to 3 kids ages 24, 21, 19 and a wonderful husband.
And my babies are 6 BO's hens, 3 White Jersey Giant hens, 3 Buff Cochin banty hens and one white frizzle banty (we called it Phyllis Diller...but think it might be a Phillip).
Oh, and 4 Manx...
Just as a heads up, opossums will eat ANYthing left outside including dogfood and catfood. So do not tempt them. Also they can get into anything, chicken wire ALONE does not stop them. S Georgia opossums get HUGE, over 30 lbs for some older ones, our 85lb dog just looks at them and says no-way...
