One of my 2yrld red sex links has started eating eggs in the nest box. Seems she only bothers her own eggs though. They're lighter in color from the others with thinner shells. They have access to oyster shells so im not sure why her shells are thin, but the bigger question is how to stop her...
She seemed normal just yesterday. Her comb, usually red, is now almost purple. Does have the labored breathing. Seems to get worse when I check on her or if she gets excited. I'm not sure if that would happen if she was egg bound. It's frustrating because we treat these birds like royalty.
She is a laying hen. We did isolate her. She's not eating or willing to drink on her own. I've been using an eye dropper to give her a little water. Seems to be breathing easier than before. Cant see anything wrong around the vent. Seems to have lost some feathers around her head, but thats been...
I used DE in the past & it works great. Make sure it's food grade & to get as close to the skin as possible. Takes about 10 days of treating every other day. Put it in your coop to to kill any living in there.
I just found one of my Chickens under a tree by herself. Her mouth is gaped open & it sounds like she trying to cough or something. Her waddle is almost purple. No clue what to do for her. Please help. Thanks.
Is there something that causes this to happen? I remember when she laid her first egg, which was soft, it stuck to her feathers back there & eventually fell off.
I found my Barred Rock lying in the bottom of my coop in the pine chips. She's got some stuff, not really sure what, on her tailfeathers and around the vent. I also found what looks like a soft egg shell under her. She was fine thismorning & laid a normal egg yesterday. Any thoughts I'm stumped...
I have 5 6month old birds, 4 sex links & 1 barred rock. I recently got 3 18wk old sex links. I breeder told me that I should just put them in the coop with the others and let them work it out. Well, that ended with 1 of the new birds being beaten pretty bad & the other 2 constantly harrassed...
I recently purchased 3 sex links, 18wks, from a farm. I can see some kind of bugs under their feathers. I have them separated from my other 5 for now. Ive been using DE on them but I don't think it's going to get into the feathers enough. Is there anything else I can use to get rid of the bugs...
I have 5 21 week old chickens. One of them, a barred rock, wont lay in the nest boxes. She lays on the floor of the coop & seems to be eating them. I have two red sex links that are laying in the boxes & arn't eating the eggs. The other two havn't started laying yet. What can I do to break the...
Thats real cool. I just put my nest box in today. My birds, 4 sex links 1 barred rock, are 17weeks old. I put golf balls in the boxes & I guess now I wait. These are my first birds & I raised them from day old chicks.
I was told by a breeder to just sprinkle it in their food. It's pretty harmless stuff so they wont od or anything. Suppose to be real good for worms & parasites.
