I cracked an egg this morning, and it was filled with blood.
What does this mean, and what do I do about it?
They all have fowl pox right now. Does this have anything to do with it? I thought that eggs from chickens with fowl pox were still safe to eat. should we stop eating their eggs?
I'm almost positive that my birds have fowl pox, so what do I do about it? Just ignore it?
How long does it last, and can I still eat their eggs?
THanks
ChicKat's idea sounds like a good one to me!
Now about how much to feed them - Chickens should have unlimited access to their food. They will not overeat, so they will stop on their own when they are full.
I had heard that they were pretty noisy, but after this information, I think peafowl are pretty much out of the question. Thank you everyone for the very helpful replies!
I looked into my coop today and saw this little egg. I've heard of double yokers, but never this! It's so cute! I assume this is normal for a chicken to lay, but I just wanted to make sure. So, could this indicate anything bad for the hen who laid it? Is there something in particular that might...
Hi, my family has been toying with the idea of getting peafowl. We live in a suburban neighborhood. We have 5 chickens that are enclosed in a pen. We also have two medium/large dogs, but they are old, and they mostly sleep all day. We have a medium sized back yard.
So, do peafowl sound...
Sometimes an egg gets dropped. Is it okay for me to feed that raw egg to my hens? Will they get sick from it?
Also, how long do refrigerated eggs last? And if I don't collect eggs for a few days, will they still be good?
Thanks!
Sometimes when I am collecting eggs, some of the chickens run over to the nest and stare at me. Also, one time one of them flew up at my back while I was collecting the eggs.
I have one among 4 other hens. the leghorn may be a little skittish, but not so much that i can't walk near her, touch her, and pick her up. in addition to that, she is my best egg layer
One day I was bending over and putting food in their bowl and on of them flew up and stood on top of me. Today, the same thing happened again with a different hen and this time I wasn't even bending over, just standing straight up. Is there any reason they are doing this?
