after further inspection it looks like there is a really light yellow/white color on chest/shoulders . I guess we'll start getting a better idea the older they get...?
couldn't the farm store have gotten them as a large mixed order?who knows what hatchery it came from? you can call the strore and ask them maybe where they got them if you can give them an estimated date ? If it came from a hatchery that doesn't have the Appenzeller Spitzhauben then you'll know...
more of an orange ....The chick's color has gone to more of a yellow as you can see in the photo except for the dark coloring on the wings which have kept some of the original tone and gotten darker in areas..( I guess her butt is still a slightly darker color than some of the other chicks too...
We got several chickens from valley country store and do not know what kind the one on the right is. (not sure on sex yet either) I wish I would've taken pictures of the one that died a couple of weeks ago too because he was very special and a light gray and yellow. This chicken (Rosey - the...
Sorry emj, didn't mean to high jack your thread, just hoping things are going better for you and you found some things to help etc. I'm hoping for the same as I am also un-experienced and new with this
I boiled some egg, smashed it up and gave some to all of the chicks. .......apparently they don't like it and won't eat it. I've left it in the brooders and checked on it. Doesn't look like any of the chicks are eating any of it???

I just made my chicks 1.5-2 weeks old a little climbing tower made out of leftover pieces of wood from clean (safe) pallets used for other projects.I think the project took me 1 minute and they'vE loved it and had tons of fun climbing and trying to fly off....emphasis on trying. only thing is...
I have a little black and white fella showing the same symptoms. I've tried probiotics and medicated feed. Doesn't seem to be getting worse.or better. I'll try the egg.
Wouldn't mixing DE (DIATOMACEOUS EARTH) food grade with their feed also help to de worm them? I've read about chicken and livestock farmers mixing in the bedding and feed to de worm their animals. http://www.richsoil.com/diatomaceous-earth.jsp it's non-toxic to the chickens and humans but kills...
Hi everyone! This is Joe. I've read a lot of raising chickens and so far we have had some baby chick's we're raising and out of 12 we lost 1 in the first 3 days due to mushy chick disease. But besides that I don't have a clue about raising chickens but it's been a blast! I'm open to any tips and...
Thanks for the link. I'd read that one and others hoping to help the chorus chick but it didn't make it. Thanks. So far our others are doing great including two turkeys. And they're all fun to watch.
