Are These 7 month old Gold Laced Orpinton's Rooster's...

We are trying to get a hold of the breeder we bought them from. Hoping they will trade them out for us. If I had a female, we might keep one of the roosters. This is a rare breed in the US apparently. They are very easy going and easy to get along with right now, not sure what will happen...

Are These 7 month old Gold Laced Orpinton's Rooster's...

Thanks, I was 99.9% sure. Feeling stupid it took so long to notice, it was actually the attempt of Lacey, now Acey, to crow like a rooster that was the tipping point on Sunday. There was that little part of me that was in denial. We don't want them to breed with our ladies, heaven knows what...

Are These 7 month old Gold Laced Orpinton's Rooster's...

We bought these two Gold Laced Orpingtons in April. They were 3 months old. These pictures were taken on 9/7/14... We were told they were female. We love the Orpington breed and wanted to add to our flock. We lost 3 of our ladies last year. Long story short, we are now convinced that we...

Gold Laced Orpington- For Learning and Sharing

First of all, I will be giving you all a good laugh. We bought two Gold Laced Orpingtons at a local swap meet back in April. We were told that they were female. Not being familiar with this particular variety of Orpington's we had not really thought much else about their sex.... well today we...

    Help, Coccidiosis

No one around here carries the safeguard, tried to find that last week. The Rooster Booster would cover several bases at once, provided it is good. We have pretty much stuck to keeping things clean, layer crumbles, Apple cider vinegar in their water, Diatomaceous earth in their food and coop...

    Help, Coccidiosis

Rooster Booster also has a medicated Wormer that is also a vitamin and mineral supplement and is added to the feed. Do you know if this is a good wormer? The Valbazen I found locally is $79, the wormer with the vitamins and minerals from Rooster Booster is much less! This is the information...

    Help, Coccidiosis

Another stupid question... Can I just crush up Vitamin C to give them in place of the powdered ascorbic acid if I need to use the cyclines to treat?

    Help, Coccidiosis

Thanks! Michael Apple is very knowledgeable and helpful, as well as many other's, Up until now we have been very fortunate with our ladies, except for the two we lost to predators last summer. I am also starting them on Yogurt, for pro-biotic benefits in addition to the electrolytes. I am...

    Help, Coccidiosis

I kept mine on Corid for 7 days. Just took them off yesterday. I am also adding electrolytes to their water today, as that was suggested, once the corid treatment was finished. I am completely stumped. We just cannot afford vet bills at this point or I would simply go that route.

    Help, Coccidiosis

Wanted to update everyone, I really appreciate all of the good advice and help. All but one of my 7 ladies seem to be doing much better, one is not doing well at all. I am still conflicted about what is going on. I am going to take the suggestion to worm them now that we have finished the...

    Help, Coccidiosis

They are on the Corid, started late yesterday. We will go for 7 days. I can also add ascorbic acid. We will see how things are going in 3 days. Again, I really appreciate all the help and suggestions. The original recommendation was to use Chlortetracycline. We could not get that and were...

    Help, Coccidiosis

No bloody stools just liquid and green to yellow. Lethargic, not laying, combs have flopped over on some. We haven't gone back to the point where any are refusing food or treats. We really thought we had this beat after the 10 day course of treatment described in original post. I actually...

    Help, Coccidiosis

That is good to know. We don't give them a lot but will withdraw comeplety for a while. With summer here we may just withhold the scratch until the weather gets cold again.
