This is great, I found a giant egg like that today, jumped on the forum to find out what it was and sure enough you had the same experience I did. Mine came from my Red Star too, she has been laying for two weeks straight and today we got the big one. Good to know this is not too unusual, thanks!

Hi all, I got my first to eggs today and I was wondering if anyone had a way they could tell which hens are laying. I have 15 hens, 12 are brown egg layers and the two eggs were brown, but I am not sure which hens layed them. Any advise? Thanks!

It looks like a Cooper's Hawk from that tail. I just had one like it swoop down on my chickens this morning but it was not succesfull. It didn't get a seconf chance because luckily I saw the whole thing go down and I ran outside and scared it away. I have seen two more souring over head today...

Wow! Thank you all so much, I think you nailed it! It definitely has that muff on the cheeks. I have three other EE that I had identified as such, but they are all the same and a much different color. I didn't realize the EE would come in a variety of colors. Thanks again!
