Hello! I am some sort of Chicken addict, they are fantastic and interesting and full of personality.
Right now I live with my BF and his family. His mom started their farm a year ago with a small two garden beds, I watched it develop and travel to the side yard and the other side yard was...
We have a trio of magpies that are new to the whole nesting thing. They have a good sized clutch of eggs that they aren't setting on.
So I was thinking that since our scovie will take 35 days, if I throw in some magpie eggs at the right time(about 5 days from now), they should all hatch about...
We have a really cute just hatched batch of muscovie ducklings, mama hatched them all by her self, we helped a few stragglers, but one duckling is really slow and has trouble keeping up, but he can walk just fine. He is almost completely black and is about three days old now and it almost looks...
Can this be done on ducks and geese to? I wish we had known our little silki was a roo earlier so that we might have saved us some heart ache.We live very much in town so we have to figure out what to do with our roos when we get them, and we usually end up eating them.
If you split a roosters tongue, he can not crow.
Don't bite my head off for wanting to try this, but we have tiny little silkie who is apparently a rooster. His name is Popcorn, and he is the largest of our tiny little silkie trio, and we feel that giving having to give him away would be such a...
I have a much older gosling with that same problem. He started out normal but then he had a growth spurt and looks like an awkward ostrich. He is really slow and takes small steps at a time and even on carpet his legs fall out of under him, I have him hobbled right bow, but I was wondering if...

I do this: http://www.poultryhelp.com/spraddle.html and it works every time!
I have looked at that one and I am using the leg hobble.
In general though, he had a growth spurt and now he looks like an awkward ostrich. His legs are so long! Poor little guy
How do you fix this! He is my favorite little guy, but his legs are almost as long as he is tall and now he is having trouble getting around. He is about three weeks old and I dont know what to do! Could any one please help? He is a Toulouse, in case that's important.
I think our female muscovie is finally setting on her eggs! She has about 15 or 16 eggs under her, I was dating them up until a few days ago, she was spending more time than usual in the box but she was still laying, so yayyy! Duckling in 35 or so days!
Fast growers indeed! By the end of the first week we had ours, they doubled in size, now they are three and a half weeks and they are roaming the back yard freely. They cant even sit in our hands like the used to, they fall of because they are so big now. We have three little magpies and they...
We have Moscovies and Magpies, they scovies have 10 eggs in the nest right now, so she might set any day now, and the magpies wont be laying any time soon, but we are just curious on when to butcher them when we have them?
