We are expecting temp to not go out of the 30's with lows in the teens. They are in a small rabbit hutch shelter. I was thinking a 75 watt ceramic heat bulb or a 75 watt infrared spot bulb. Or just let mom do her thing
My broodie hen hatched 3 of 4 eggs 10 days ago in her own little hutch. I live in southwestern Pa no heat except for mom. It was in the low 40 degrees this morning and they were out in the open part of the hutch scratching and eating with mom. They didn't seem affected at all by the temp.
Well we came home from taking my kid out for his birthday, while we were out eating. she passed. She drank nicely before we left, I still had to hold the bowl for her. It was a hot day here and I had her in her cage in the shade. so I don't know if it was the sudden heat, that I might have done...
She's just not interested in eating, a couple of pecks and that's it of eggs mashed with vitamin water. So I did tube feed her this morning, with some applesauce and vitamin water. So far no better no worse. Now that I have done it once I will try the eggs and vitamin water tonight. How often...
that lump keeps me thinking that her crop is impacted so i try to massage it out, but there is really nothing there to massage. How would i go about tube feeding her? I have tried to feed her mashed eggs with vitamin water, she will take some but not much before she stops.
Ok folks my hen hasn't eaten for 8-12 days. will only drink when you hold her and tip the bowl for her. She is pooping watery green, not much or often. I have given her Tylan 50 for a couple of days, chicken vitamins in her water. She can stand on her own, her neck looks all scrunched down...
My girls free range so it's to be expected, but whatever got this one was bold. took it right out in the front yard, at noon. killed it about 20 yards away in the bushes, ate the head, neck, and one wing left the rest. Any ideas? The wife says she thought she say a small fox this moring about...
Check out this post, my design was based off this. It looks like you could put his design of handle on yours easily. It is a very sturdy handle. I can pull it around the yard short distances myself, or put it over the seat of my riding tractor to pull it distances...
Go to my home page to look at mine. I got the plans from another member whose site I link to on my page. Check it out. Good luck, there are so many good designs out there.
My Ladies
Helping me turn the garden.
I built their A frame tractor for about $180 in lumber and hardware, with only a little scrap wood. Most of the wood was new. it was a design from Im4Eggcellence with a little modification.
I got the Ladies when they were just under a year. This was my...
I have a three strand electric fence around mine. I got all the supplies at TSC for, I guess around 50 60 dollars. Fiberglass step in poles, a $25 fence charger, and poly cord. I let them free range all day they scoot under the fence their back touches it but they don't seem to mind, but they...
