shes probably not drinking enough water (chickens are sometimes too stupid to remember how often they should drink water!),
I would suggest not feeding her until you've seen her drink plenty of water.
i got a broody hen (finally) and she sat on some eggs for a week, but than today she moved to a different nesting box and started sitting on those eggs instead, im not sure how long shes been on the other eggs, at least a couple of hours so i moved her back to the first nesting box. so...
id definitely keep locking them up at night, as long as you dont notice them picking each other(a sign that they're getting cramped). as long as they got food and water, they should be fine and you definitely dont want them getting eaten by predators
a new place can confuse a chicken, they should be laying in the next few days, but you might have to wait another week, i wouldnt worry about it, sometimes it takes a while to adjust.
alright, thanks for the ideas, i'll figure something out...it definitally wont be fancy(our coop is basically no more than a shed).
one more question, about how long do you think i'll have to keep him separated?
where should i put him? we sold all our dog cages a while ago, we do have a rabbit cage(about 2' x 4') that we use to break broody hens....but he's a cochin so its really tight , if you got any ideas on any type of cagish thing i could use, that would be helpful, thanks
my rooster has a few favorite hens(obviously) and they're losing a lot of their back feathers, I've heard of using saddles, but id rather not get them unless theres no other way. ya'll got any other ideas?
