I am writing an evaluation paper in college on how to pick the best laying hen. (I just can't bring myself to evaluate a "normal" topic such as cars or cell phones.) Can anyone tell me the signs of a malnourished hen?

    Howdy from Central Indiana

Howdy and welcome, neighbor. We live fairly close to Paragon. I have really found BYC to be so helpful. My DH was raised in the country and I was a smalltown city girl. If I can be won over by chickens, maybe your wife can too. lol Best of luck in your chicken and duck adventures!

    Help!!! It may die!!!

We have had 8 of our eggs hatch and 5 more piping. One of the chicks that hatched still has a bunch of "yolk" in the shell and a cord hanging from it's bottom. He/she seems very weak. Is there anything we can do for him?
