What is the sex on these 4 month old bantam Silkies and one bantam Frizzle Cochin (probably mixed wi

Thank you to those who've responded! How sure are we on the Silkies? We have a chance to take them to a new home tomorrow (and it's not easy to find roos homes around here) but it's amazing how attached you get to these critters so we don't want to let them go unless we have to and are pretty...

What is the sex on these 4 month old bantam Silkies and one bantam Frizzle Cochin (probably mixed wi

We hatched these bantam chickens from eggs about 4 months ago. We already have one cockerel headed to a new home and wanted to send him some companions too if we were sure they weren't pullets. They are just pet chickens and I'm pretty sure they aren't purebred either so have a go with what you...

Is this bantam Cochin a cockerel?

I'm pretty sure he's been crowing for a couple weeks. But, I didn't think they normally crowed that early and I heard hens can imitate crow sounds?!? I was confused but I think it's becoming more apparent now, that bird is a male.

Is this bantam Cochin a cockerel?

Thank you folks! I think it unanimous that this bird is not what I was told it was. It does seem hawk-like and it could possibly have some Ameraucana in it it. I don't mind that so much as we're just raising chickens for pets. More importantly is whether this chicken is male. Are we all in...

Is this bantam Cochin a cockerel?

It is absolutely 10 weeks old as we hatched it ourselves. Aren't his tail feathers also pretty prominant if he were a pullet? By the way, you are a complete genius because I just noticed where this farmer had posted d'Uccles for sale. Apparently that's (partially) what he is. Thanks again!!!

Is this bantam Cochin a cockerel?

See how new I am to this all? It was given to my sons as a "Cochin" egg that we hatched. I have since learned the farmer the egg came from let her chickens all run wild so a mixed breed is very possible. I don't remember her having any of the type you mentioned though. I thought the body (and...

Is this bantam Cochin a cockerel?

I'm new to this so forgive me if it's a stupid question... Is this banty a male? We thought for sure it was a pullet and then at 10 weeks it started crowing (but I heard hens can do this too?) and is becoming more aggressive as well as growing quite the rump so now we're confused. :D What sex do...

Rocky Mountain Chickenstock raffle winners announced

Bummed I didn't win anything but I guess that's nothing new to me! Congratulations to the winners. On another note...I'm new to chickens, BYC, and to Idaho Falls area. I noticed Big Sky Organic Feed was available/advertised at Chickenstock yesterday. Can anyone tell me if I can buy that in a...
