if anything, these girls probably have an over-nutrition problem. They get their layer mash, scratch, veggie and fruit scraps from the kitchen, plus whatever they pick up while out in their run. I can probably see them getting bored though, but until I have a bigger property for them...
I have two Polish the rest of the flock are full size. One of my polish is doing the same thing. The past couple days when everyone else is gone inside she is staying outside alone.
When I grabbed her last night to put her in I noticed some feathers on the top of her head were missing and her...
When building my coop I decided against treated wood.
Instead I put a good coat of paint on the surfaces that touch the ground.
I am raising my flock chemical free No antibiotics, No medicated feed.
I worried the chemicals from the treated lumber would leach into puddles that the chickens...
At 4 weeks old my chicks started to really stink. I thought something was wrong so I went looking here on BYC and found the thread where jenspeeps give you the scoop on poop.
When I realized it was this cecal poop which happens every 5-6 days I figured it was time to get them in the coop before...
I just received this one from eggcartons.com

Yes, I have covered the inside of the windows and the rear vent with hardware cloth.
I am also using the screens that came with the windows to keep out the insects.
I used a 19x31 Hopper type window and reversed the window to open out to prevent rain. I like the fact I can open/close the windows without going into the coop.
